Objectives The impact of benign gynecological conditions on life women and costs for the society is high. purpose this study to gain knowledge understanding treatment these disorders in order be able improve clinical care processes, insight into feasible savings opportunities allocate funds wisely. Methods healthcare processes 311 attending university or community hospitals Helsinki Uusimaa Hospital District between June 2012 August 2013 due a condition were followed up two years analysed. Results Total direct hospital averaged 689€ at six months 2194€ years. most expensive was that uterine fibroids short term endometriosis later on. Costs did not depend size. Surgical operations caused nearly half costs. Productivity loss biggest expenses outside hospital. LNG-IUD (levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device) accounted largest pharmaceutical patients. associated with reduced need outpatient services during follow-up. Conclusions A majority arise over time. This stresses prolonged management. To control costs, repetitive doctors’ appointments, monitoring tests, ward treatments should carefully evaluated. Procedures needing an operation theatre (for example hysteroscopy polypectomy), done ambulatorily.
